Hi, my name’s Matt and I’m an engineer.

Find out a little more about me below.

Current – Johnson Matthey Davy Technologies

Process Engineer. January 2013 – Present

A Varied Licensing Business

JM Davy has a successful business licensing it’s intellectual property in Basic Engineering Packages. As a graduate, I have had exposure to all sides of the business including:

  • Proposal bids for new contracts.
  • Process datasheets and process systems
  • Training material for new graduates and operator training
  • Confined space entry training
  • Construction reviews on site and commissioning new plants

6 Month Assignment in Technology Centre

July 2013 - January 2014. Based in Stockton-Upon-Tees, I worked in a shift team to ensure the smooth running of various experimental test rigs and experiments. Troubleshooting problems as well as gathering and analysing data were important aspects to this hands-on assignment. Upon my return to the London office, I was involved with a safety assessment to understand the risks involved in bringing this new, unproven technology to market.

BCECA Representative

I represent JM Davy on the Young Engineers Committee at BCECA (British Chemical Engineering Contractor’s Association). In 2014, I wrote and co-presented a Webinar to promote BCECA through the IChemE.

Commissioning Experience

Six week assignment in Qian’an, Hebei, China commissioning a Coke Oven Gas (COG) to Substitute Natural Gas (SNG) plant. Was involved with operator training, SIS trip testing, catalyst loading and reduction, and successful start-up.

IChemE Chartership

IChemE Chartership is a primary career goal for me. JM Davy has a mentorship program and actively supports its graduates through the process. I have completed an interim report and aim to be a chartered engineer by 2017.
